Great product, but if you buy the mounting bracket they want you to upgrade to be aware that the level on it is about 15 degrees off. Used that level to install and did not notice until the TV was hung.

May be a little pricy over a standard LCD but the extra brightness and sharpness are worth it. If you want the best - this is it. Make sure to pair with a Samsung Blu-Ray, they work very well together.

I ordered this HDTV to replace a defective Sony after researching my options for several months. When I saw a good deal at Abe's, I jumped on it.

The picture quality is absolutely amazing! There are times when the picture appears to be three dimensional, as if I was looking through a window instead of watching television.

The sound through the TV isn't great, but anyone spending this kind of money should have it hooked up to a surround-sound system, anyway. It isn't an issue for me.

I highly recommend the Samsung Luxia.

I replaced a 4 year old DLP (which I thought had a nice picture) with this unit and could not be happier. The picture is amazing for football and other sports, Blu-ray movies and hi def television. The internal sound does leave you wanting more, but this monitor should be part of a more extensive home theater setup. This thin Samsung begs to be wall mounted but looks great with stand as well. I wonder how much further picture quality will go in the next four years.

The obvious attraction of these tv is the slim design. A crisp image displayed from such a svelt device. As a gaming platform the unit is near flawless. For movies(Blueray and HD) the picture looks fantastic. I see what all the fuss is about on HD programming. The few minor drawbacks, no PIP for HDMI ports, only antenna and cable as the secondary source. For videophiles, there are 6 small areas of reduced image brightness along the vertical sides. Though this is only visible with all white pictures. I assume this is due to how the LED's are mounted around the edges. Also when fading to all blacks, there is a waterfall effect in the blacks. Not a big deal but an interesting detail. All-in-all I am very satisfied with the tv and a few friends have purchased or are consider the Samsung series tv's for there next tv upgrade.

I wanted to do a private review, but that option would not come up. I love my t.v. [...] The cable is a real piece of junk, compared to the one that my sound technician brought with my sound system. That was a ripoff. I would have a better taste in my mouth, except for this event, which was unnecessary.

I haven't been able to play around with many settings but the TV was easy to hook up out of the box and everything looks perfect (no dead pixels or damage [...]) Abe's was hundreds of dollars cheaper than [...]. [...] I have been trying to stare at the edges to try and find the one flaw of edge-lit LED's but I can't notice any of the flaws outlined on CNET. Definitely one of the best Tv's money can buy if price is not an issue but if you are looking for value probably not the Tv for you.

Pros I have been shopping for this TV for over 2 years. I have had it for approximately 2 weeks. I was looking for quality, affordability and peace of mind that I was buying from reputable company. I wanted Plasma picture quality on an LCD since our family room has bright sunlight during the day. I waited until VIZIO LED came out with their model because I knew it would be cheap but the picture is not even close to this Samsung. Comparison with 240MHZ or this TV's 120MGZ was negligible. I could not see difference and reviews seem to agree. The money saved will be used to upgrade when technologies improve in next three years. I love the "auto volume", finally no blasting commercials. Screen thickness is light years ahead of competition. Looks like picture on wall. I had problem in the past purchasing a defective over the range" microwave. It was defective and I had to return it. The only issue was that it was inconvenient to ship microwave back to the internet company rather than just drive down the street to the box store. With Samsungs in home warranty the first year this is not an issue. Cons - Audio is tinny sounding especially on S's. Only able to remove hiss from S's by turning equalizer down maximum on higher hertz. Not an issue for me since I am using Klipsch speakers anyway. PIP - controls are extremely awkward. Remote control does not have PIP button. TV does not have built in PIP but you can watch PIP on any plug-in. Switching between PIP is nearly impossible since you have to press tools, up, up, enter "PIP", right "on", up, right sound select "sub", Exit. Not meant to be used for channel switching during commercials. I do not know how I am going to work around this. I am used to pressing one button during commercials. [...] I am happy with purchase and will buy from Samsung or Abe's of Maine in future.

TV is near perfect. 120Hz / sharpening settings are way too artificial out of the box, so these will need to be adjusted. Color is pretty accurate, but of course needs calibration to be spot on. The wall mount that Samsung sells for their ultra-thin TV's does not exactly instill confidence. You look at the mount and say "that's all that's going hold up the TV?!" But at the end of the day, it does its job.

beautiful if you can afford it though i would upgrade to the 8500 series which has backlit local dimming and eliminates the only 2 negative issues with this tv which are caused by the edge lit leds

I absolutely love this TV. It is the lightest weight, least power hungry, best eco tv out there. With good HD content, the picture is simply amazing. Images appear almost 3D. I did all the research and found that abesofmaine had the lowest price by far and when they called to confirm the order, they were very helpful.

mount was easy and picture is very bright and clear.
LED backlighting improves image, power efficiency, the environment.. black level is super on this TV.

No regrets here. This LED has an amazing picture so clear it makes you feel as if you could step right into the picture. The 3D effect is truly something to behold. I wall mounted my TV using an ultra thin mount which makes it look great on the wall. The face of the TV sits only 2¼" from the wall!
If you are looking for a TV, look no more. This is the one to get. Samsung did a great job!

The 55" LED Flat screen is cool(temperature} compare to the plasma and LCD. I compared the temperature to our TVs and what a difference it made to the room. I would think it'll make a difference to our electric bill as well. Eventhough I didn't mount the TV on the wall - the unit is amazingly thin compared to the LCD/Plasma (half the thickness). The contrast is so clear in HD that it's like watching 3D. I love this new technology. In addition the setup was pretty much plug and play. The only setup problem was the volume adjustment. After a few tries (5 min.)the volume worked just fine. After 2 weeks it's still working GREAT! Yes - this is a buy!

I have enjoyed this since I unpacked it. I did about 5 months of study and am very happy with the unit and the quality of the picture. There are enough connections for my Sat receiver, my blu-ray, and other devices. No disappointments that I have found.

Very thin TV that gives a sense of depth I have never seen before. This 3D aspect is best seen from the center. The angle view is very good but only has the sense of depth as a normal TV. The TV is so thin and can be mounted so close to the wall that you need to pre-install any cable you want to use or you will have to take the TV down to add a input cable. Amazing picture and consumes less power.

I use this television primarily for trade-shows and for laboratory displays. This television is AMAZINGLY thin and light, and it is less expensive than it's similarly sized and specced LCD television. If thin is what you are looking for, you just can't beat this television. While viewing angle is good, it's not as good as that of the LCD televisions. Colors and images begin to wash out a little. The brightness and contrast aren't even close when compared to the Series 9 Samsung LCD 55" television. The picture on the LCD is so much brighter, crisper, and amazing. Users who have never seen the LCD version may not notice this difference, but when they are side-by-side there's no comparison.
