I think my husband and I were one of the last holdouts to buy a large screen TV. So far, I love it. It's very big but my room is large and it looks great. We purchased a console rather than mounting on the wall. We may mount it at some point but it's not necessary. The picture quality is crisp and clear, excellent and no problem with glare even though the room has many windows and sky windows. The only negative is the cost.

This TV is so sharp and clear that you feel that you are right there in the stadium watching the game (and counting the blades of grass!!). Set up was simple and the large number of connections makes it simple to connect cable box, blue ray player, etc. With all the HDMI connections I was able to set up the entire system with only 3 HDMI cables and the speaker wires for the surround system. Access to the internet was instant once the provided software was installed and the wireless bridge set up. This replaced a well performing 61" Hitachi DLP. A great TV for the next decade!!

We have had a Sony HD for 6 years which we enjoyed. This Samsung is at another level. Top notch picture quality and when you add a Blu-Ray player it will astound you. My wife almost got motion sickness during the first movie we watched on it. I would highly recommend as a home theater.

I was unhappy that the WiFi adapter was not built in. I had to buy an $80 USB adapter from Samsung. It is kind of a waste. Internet widgets are not very funstional. Cannot get much from my computer. I can play mp3 music but must sort them one at a time. I had hoped to steam Netflix movies but cannot at this time. Samsung and Netflix have no agreement. You can stream Netflix via Samsung BluRay player but I don't have that.

Noticeably blotchy in the blacks, poor inconsistent scroll wheel on the remote, and doesn't auto detect activity on other inputs. Otherwise its a great looking television that will hopefully last me a long time. Might be dissapointed if I paid more then what I was able to get through www.abesofmaine.com but I can see some people getting upset about the price given these few issues.

The TV is really great. The blacks are a little "blotchy" when the screen is totally black - and the LED local dimming is really needed.

What I would suggest is that this TV be the "living room" set - and then upgrade to the 8500 series if needed in the theater or bedroom (or wherever you watch TV more). Hope that helps. Yes the autodim is annoying - but you get over it with the FANTASTIC picture quality this set has to offer. The speakers are good as well....

We bought the Samsung 55" LED to replace the old Sony projection console which was shot. I could not be happier. I know my wife had her reservations as we looked at various models across the local retailer. All were put to rest when she saw the unit set up at home..... one huge WOW! Now she blames me for not being able to pull herself away from watching TV..... "It's just like you are there" are her comments. [...]Setup was a synch...no issues at all.I read the various reviews, "expert" opinions, etc. that made reference to the surface glare. Yes, the screen is a mirror when the unit is off and lighting is behind you.... no issue at all when actually watching programs. No apparent viewing angle issues either.Cost??? Well...yes somewhat pricey...but then you pay for what you get. This was our first venture in to a large flat panel....I am more than happy.

Great TV; however, the internet@home is extremely slow and there is a lot of reflection glare. My other LCD (Sharp Aquos) has little glare compared to this LED LCD. Overall a great TV at a great price.

Had my Samsung UN55B8000 TV a couple of weeks now. It has more than lived up to the hype. Hooked it up and put on a blu-ray disk. Even the delivery guy's jaw dropped, and he's delivered/set up hundreds of TVs.

TV is only inch and half thick and only weighs 60 pounds or so.

In fact, it is sometimes almost too good. When viewing people on HD you can see every little mole, scar, wrinkle, stray hair, makeup, five o'clock shadow, makeup line, etc. I'm sitting here watching the news and I can clearly see tiny pieces of lint on the guy's black suit. I'm guessing the talking heads of tomorrow are all going to have to have much better complexions.

If you like to tweak your TV this one provides a lot of different controls. There are already some websites that will give you what they consider good tweaks to maximize the pic. You can also look for the B7000 tweaks. Looks pretty darn fantastic right out of the box so if you aren't a techie, don't worry about it.

Sounds..not particularly good or bad, but I don't want TV speakers taking up space anyway. If you are going to spend this kind of money for a TV you should be using your stereo system.

Some reviewers were complaining about the number of inputs. Again, how many is enough. I run my PS3, XBOX360, IPOD, and the Dish box through my Denon and so I only use one HDMI.

You can plug it into the internet. No set-up, just plug it in. First thing it did was download 12 updates to itself. Have no idea what they did but ...didn't cause any problems. It automatically loads up some of Yahoo's widgets. Fun to try but...not something I have really gone back and used much. Also has some built in content...recipes, artwork, etc. that I haven't bothered to look at.

You can plug in USB drives and view content directly off the drive.

I long ago got rid of my roof antenna. I bought a little Turk indoor antenna and plugged that in so I can pop over into over-the-air signals and watch TV. It will automatically search and find the on-air channels. It even downloads some kind of TV guide from the internet for the channels it finds.

I also wanted to see if there was any signal degradation from Dish. I haven't noticed the HD degradation with Dish that I had with Comcast. The way Comcast packed the HD signals you could see a real difference between OTA and the packed pics.

Samsung also provides software which allows you to use your PC as a server. Then you can display your pics, music, etc on the TV. Took a little playing around but was easy compared to some of the others I've tried to use.

I've played games with both my PS3 and the XBOX360. No problems. No pixelating. Did not bother to change TV over to game mode. I haven't fooled around with the 240Hz function. I just leave it on standard.

I'm sure there are other features I haven't tried. With the ability to update itself over the internet I have no doubt they will teach it even more amazing tricks.

I've set up my Harmony 880 Pro to control all my devices including the IPOD. IPOD menu/info will display (through my Denon) on the TV.

All of the above features are great but the main thing is... the picture is just absolutely mind-blowing wonderful.

So, fantastic TV. I am VERY happy with it. Obviously I highly recommend it.

((Now I'm watching Wall-E in HD and it is pretty amazing.))

This TV has a great picture. I work for a cable company I see all types of TVs allday. This TV has a beatiful HD pic. but what impressed me was the clarity of analog signal programing. Most TVs if you stand too close you see blurring. this TV reduces the noise, you can watch point blank and see min. blurring. Since Not all programing is in HD this makes watching analog signals enjoyable. there is onlytwo cons during full color screens you can see darkening in the corners. I thought my TV was having problems but I seen floor model do the same thing. and the samsung DLNA software that come with it sucks, its very limited.

While the slim design and relative small projection from the wall are excellent, once you connect HDMI, PC and other cords the TV does not allow for sufficient space to take full advantage of the design. Cord make the bottom of the set stick out if you are trying to take advantage of small wall projection. Had to do a lot of maneuvering and even then it does not sit as flat against the wall as the design lends itself.

Built a new home theater. Used a 1/2" mount (a real one, not the Samsung version) and the surface is only 1.5" from wall surface. Integrated to Samsung home theater system easily. Built in Internet access using Yahoo widgets is really slow, but streaming netflix direct to Bluray is awesome!

Without a doubt, the most "Stop and Stare" picture quality I have seen to date out of ANY panel I have extensively researched. The images are so clear, it feels like you're there. Friends and neighbors go absolutely silent with their mouths open at the picture quality. If you fiddle around with the image controls from default (Backlight/Blur/Judder, etc.), it gets even better. With premium heavy gauge HDMI 1.3 cables, the connections are very tight, since its so slim. I used a T-Rex 15 degree tilt mount and it works great. Relatively easy set-up. The manual can be a bit vauge in connection descriptions. The sound is acceptable for casual use, but face it, if you're spending this much for a TV, you best have a Home Theater or A/V receiver set up, or else you'll have a Ferrari running on a dirt track.

I was waiting for the new 8500 series to be released before I purchased my TV. I went to see the 8500 LED TV on display at [...] and I compared it directly to the 8000 LED TV with the same contrast and brightness settings with the same movie. Despite all of the fanfare over "local dimming", I am going to be brutally honest with you and tell you that I CANNOT SEE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLACK LEVELS OF THE 8000 SERIES AND THE 8500 SERIES. Therefore, I bought the 8000 series to save myself $1500. I love the TV's picture although the sound, as with all flat panel tvs, is definitely subpar. I can't see myself buying any other TV until the OLED TVs come in bigger sizes and lower prices.

Pictures smooths out a bit at certain acute angles, I wish they have the speakers in the front and sides instead of behind the unit. But it still punches, overall - Perfect!!
