I used to work for a major electronics store and sold televisions and home theater. I currently use the Pan TCP42G10 apart of my little get away from my wife. I have an Xbox 360 w/ hdmi hooked up to this TV and the DVD's surprisingly look great (I just watched last of the mohicans and the colors in the movie look incredible). Video games as you would assume look fantastic with no muddiness to them as I've seen with other TVs. As for black levels, the tv hits on all cylinders the crispness is incredible. Great contrast mixed with beautiful color displays is a great combination for a television. I have not tried a true HD source yet, but I can tell by the dvd up conversion that 1080p will look amazing on the Pan. Solid A for picture.
Even though I have a home theater connected to my TV I decided to tool around with the sound a bit. I think that considering its slimness the TV sounds great. It obviously wont be replacing your surround sound, but it could function as a decent center channel. B- for sound.
The TV is located in my "Fortress of Solitude" and the room has a door with no windows. When the door is open I can barely see anything on the TV because of the glass housing on the screen. I would not recommend this TV to anyone who has windows without proper shades or blinds. You have been warned.
Overall the picture dominates; couple this with above average sound and a great price tag and you have yourself a great value for a television.

We purchased the TV after researching online for weeks. This TV was the best moderately priced and most recommended TV for big screen Plasma TVs.
The mount (optional) didnt take long to install, and the TV was easy to mount (pending you have two people to help because it does weigh ALOT). The design is sleek and looks better than alot of the other TVs of its class. There is a side interface that has one plug for each of the different types of connections, as well as an interface in the back.
The TV offers internet connections so you can watch YouTube videos, check the weather, stocks, and other aspects of the internet. If you use the TV as an external monitor for your computer then it offers a very nice large screen for your computer needs. We played a game online for about 1 1/2 hours and the screen didnt change much, and there was no burn-in... so my guess is that it has pretty good protection against that.
The ONLY con (other than being HEAVY - which is expected) is that when changing the picture settings you have to use the CUSTOM setting in order to save any changes. The pre-given picture settings are not changeable. So, if you load the picture setting GAME or BRIGHT and then want to change those settings to customize it, you cant. You have to load CUSTOM and create it from scratch.
Overall, the TV is perfect.

My wife and I are an older couple and spend a good deal of our off time viewing TV entertainment. As well as the TV shows and sports events, we are big movie buffs and decided to get a Samsung 1600 BluRay DVD Player to work in conjunction with the Panasonic Plasma 42" G10. [...] and after instruction were read, we had it set up in less than two hours in our bedroom. Now when we head to the bedroom, it is like going to the movies. The unit is easy to operate and has several screen settings and all the adjustments one could want. The color is vibrant, the sound from the TV speakers is excellent, and the action sceens are sharp and precise. Our old Sony CRT Trinitron was good, but this set runs much cooler, weighs far less and adds class even when off to the bedroom decor. We decided to use a table mount but likely will go with the wall mount feature at a later date to leave room for DVD storage under the set. We have it connected to our computer to stream in movies and cannot get over the quality of the picture. This unit is fun to work with. We debated as to getting a LCD or the Plasma and we are so glad we made the choice we did. Fantastic television.

We are fortunate to have a good sized dedicated media room which has an Epsom 6500ub front projector on a 120" 16:9 screen. We use the Pani as an alternate for news, casual viewing and, believe it or not, as a PIP when we are watching a movie or sporting event on the big screen. The remote is simple to use, and the picture is excellent.

THX and Standard picture modes seem overly dark best picture setting for me is Vivid. I'm using the pedestal mount because the connection plugs would be too close to the wall if the included wall mount is used. I may have to build out the wall mount a couple of inches from the wall or cut an opening in the wall to avoid kinking the cables or breaking the connection sockets on the TV. However, the pedestal mount is attractive and works okay for now.

I like everything about this TV except for the lack of a vertical fill option. All screen filling option have drawbacks: horizontal fill makes objects look wider and fatter than reality; vertical fill makes objects look taller and thinner. So, why not make them all available and let the user choose?

This is a great TV for the money, and Abes of Maine has the best price on it. The TV recieved a stellar review from CNET and here's why. Panasonic makes set up a piece of cake, the THX feature corrects the image in one click and the exciting new features like Viera Cast are actually amazing. The TV goes online and allows you to connect to You Tube and image looks pretty good. Movies and Sports thru my Blu Ray player and via Direct TV HD look amazing and the sound is great as well. You can spend more and get the same quality, but why...

I was originally looking for a 40" Pioneer Plasma for my bedroom because I already own a 50" Pioneer Kuro. Unfortunately, Pioneer did not make TV's smaller than 50". In desparation, I bought an LCD TV, which was returned within a week. A friend of mine later told me about his Panasonic. I checked it out and it was assume. The picture quality and size was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to Abe's of Maine, I got a great price,[...]and have no complaints. In fact, I sometimes prefer watching the Panasonic more than I do my Pioneer.Great

Super vivid colors in 720p or higher. The ehernet port is not wireless though and you need a wireless game router like the ones for the Xbox360 to use it without stretching yet another cable to the back of the TV. All and all this TV looks amazing compared to the others in its price range...its definately a bang for your buck.

After exhaustive research, I'm glad I waited for this year's model. Panasonic's G10 series is what I've been looking for - an excellent replacement for my Sony Trinitron CRT (which retired after many good years of service). Rich blacks complement the brilliant color display, and it's features will enable this plasma TV to last long into the future.

I just watched the Dark Knight in Blue Ray and was very pleased. This takes home movies to a new level. I got my 42G10 in time to watch the Master's golf tournament. It had a much sharper picture than my two year old 720 Fujitsu that cost three times as much. The menu and adjustments are much more refined and easier to use than the Fujitsu. I had originally intended this to be a secondary unit but after a week I changed my mind and now it has become my primary set.

Upon unboxing this puppy I was really surprised at how nice it looks, and how big it is in my living room. A couple notable things:-Colors are supurb. Very accurate, crisp, and clean, One of the best TV's I have personally viewed.-24p mode flickers and is basically unwatchable. However 2:3 Pulldown works great!-Blacks are absolutely amazing! -Picture controls are a bit limited, but sufficient.[...]
