TV has a great picture. I get OTA HD and standard def DirecTV and although there is a difference, it is almost unnoticeable. WII looks great on it.
I miss the multiple and adaptable component/composite inputs from our rear-screen Hitachi (now the largest bedroom TV in town) but they're better than other brands.
Although the claim is for anti-glare treatment, I do see as much glare from background lights as before. The shiny black case, as attractive as it is, adds to the glare opportunities.
The sound is not as good as the Hitachi, but that's remedied by home theatre A/V.
Installation on the wall was a snap. I upgraded from the free wall mount to the $50 extra slim profile and I think it was a good investment. The packaging was superb -- snap out the plastic handholds and the top comes off the base -- no battle to remove the product.
All in all, a great TV at a good price.

I bought a 42" Panasonic TH-42PX8OU for the living room. Then I added surround sound that limited a larger set. I had a Panasonic CT-7G7DU in the bedroom but with my eyes getting worse)I am almost 74)I thought the 50" would solve my problem and it has. Tomorrow I will get surround sound for the bedroom.
I am more than satisfied with both.

Receive my signal using off air antenna and picture is great. Very few HD channels in my area so didn't need high resolution. Easy to hook up and start up is preset.

Bought this T.V 2 weeks ago (around September 09)
It's has great quality and the size is awesome too.
It is a bit on the heavy side (weight wise)...so I didn't bother with hooking it up on the wall.
Also you can't play video files from SD card slot...
Anyways...this T.V is all around very good!

After extensive research, I bought this TV. Very reasonably priced. Unless you want a 1080p TV, this is the best bet. Frankly, unless I sit VERY close to the TV, I cant differentiate a 720p TV from 1080p TV.

Good deal for less than $1000. I've been monitoring the prices for a while since before Christmas. The prices were lower around Dec and Jan, but after that the prices went back up -- probably because of the weaker dollar. When Abes advertised this for less than $1000, comparing prices with other online and local retailers, and reading the reviews, it looked like a good deal so I finally bought. Very easy set-up for a non-techie. Have yet to upgrade to high def cable, but now it's a must to do this bad boy justice. Blown away by animation (Shrek 2) on this TV!

I waited.. I searched.. I delayed. Had I known how good this plasma would have been I would have bought sooner. This 720p Panasonic plasma exceeded all my expectations. I am wow'ed. This television is the cats' meow.Enough said? There's more. I have a simple 5.1 sound system with in ceiling front/rear speakers from [...] the center channel was on sale at [...], the subwoofer is a jbl powered job. It rocks with my Sony AV amp, digital optical, and the setup I already had. Thanks. Abes of Maine delivered a top quality Plasma.. price? none better. Quality? None better. I'm a happy camper

Everything I had hoped for... then again, I researched this TV for weeks. The picture is fantastic, and action movies and gaming with the PS3 is incredible. I have it hooked up to a decent home theater system, but the sound from the TV alone really isn't too bad. Only complaint: no audio out to run to the home theater. You would have to use home theater with HDMI in and out to connect a gaming system.

I am throughly enjoying the crisp clear picture with along with crisp clear sound. What more can I ask for? All my friends that come over are amaized by the price and quaility of my Panasonic TCP50X1 for 2009.

First HD TV, and very happy with it so far. Used in large room as primary TV for house. Excellant HD picture, great with the games, and standard def channels even look good on this set (from greater than about 5 feet away). Set up was very easy, and once I got calabrations set (go to [@] or other site to get recommendations)I was blown away with the quality of picture. I'm still grinning at the fact that I have got this quality for the price I paid (under $900). Other than the fact that the sound is a bit weak on its owns, and that it could stand a bit more color adjustments, this set is excellant. No matter if this is your first HD set or looking for replacement, you will not be disappointed. If this is your first HD set, do the research and you will find 720 is still the wasy to go and 1080 isn't worth the extra $ for set this size and smaller. Hook this set up to a upscaling DVD player and your sourround sound system and be prepared to be blown away!
