Having read many 5 star reviews for this set, I opted to give it a try. We purchased a 32" 1080 Sony XBR a few months earlier, which we remain very pleased with. The Sony picture is better than the Panasonic, and I am quite disappointed with the Panasonic sound. It's a good value, but not a top of the line performer.

We purchased this model because of the positive reviews. So far, we agree with them! It was an easy setup and had a great picture right out of the box! Have not hooked up the wii or home theatre system to it yet but i'm sure it wont change our opinion

I did a lot of research before I bought the Panasonic TH-42PZ85U. I was already pretty sure I wanted a Plasma but I was worried about the dreaded 'burn-in'. Since that was my concern I looked for a Plasma TV that had lots of gizmos to prevent burn-in and Panasonic's new line plasmas had it all and I already new that they were a leader in the technology. I have had the TV for 4 months now and not only have I not seen any sign at all of burn-in, I am still in awe of the quality of picture, in HD and SD. I have a friend that has a 1 year old Samsung LCD and the Panasonic plasma blows it away in all categories especialy fast moving action like sports and some movies. I'm also a gamer and I have an XBox 360 hooked up to it and the picture will amaze you and still no sign of burn-in even though I play a lot of FPS with static images on the screen. Panasonic has definitely solved the burn-in problem. My only regret is that I didn't get the same TV in 46". If your confused by all the tech mumbo jumbo and you want a great TV not just a good TV then this is the for you.

I did a lot of research and Panasonic seemed to be the way to go for plasma. I got Direct TV HD just in time for the Olympics and was blown away by the beauty of the picture. Colors are rich, deep, sharp, etc. It's an amazing product. The only drawback is that the sound isn't the greatest, but it's serviceable.

I like watching movies on my TH-42PZ85U. I have panasonic Blu-ray connected on to it and the experience is AWESOME. The TV is so life like its very clear and crisp. The colors are so vivid I enjoy every moment. Its a great TV. There is only one thing con about the TH-42PZ85U is that it does not have much of a choice in screen selections. There are only three Standard, Vivid, or Cinema. The sound of the TV is not so good you may need to install your own speakers. I have sony Soundbar with subwoofer connected to mine. It sounds great. I want to thank the Abes of Maine for being the best and for great customer service they provided me.

The picture quality is amazing. The HD channels, particulary when viewing a sporting event bring the game right into your home. The setup was very simple. The picture seems to get better every day.
