This TV runs eight hours a day in our family room, playing news, sports, and videos. It's a perfect size - we won't be going any larger - looks great, and displays all input sources beautifully. I suppose one could spend three times as much on the same size Pioneer plasma...but why would you?

we hung our new tv on the wall in our new bedroom and we are thrilled with it. not only the looks of it but the clarity and color is excellent. my husband loves watching his football games on it. abes of maine advised us to purchase the upgraded wall mount and we are glad we did. we wanted the screen to be as close to the wall as possible and it is only one inch away.

I own an earlier version 42 inch of the Panasonic Viera line so I wasn't surprised or disappointed with the 50 inch. Purchased with a flush wall mount, this plasma is the perfect centerpiece to your home theater system.

This was a screaming deal through Abe's in what I affectionately call the "Black Friday Giveaway". This is my 2nd major purchase with the first being a Yamaha soundbar so Abe's is definitely on my short list of retailers for high end electronics.

Very good TV we are enjoying it.

Great TV. If you have a stadard broadcast signal, it will look blurry and you'll hate it. But with a proper input...WOW.[...]The frame of the TV is glossy and it picks up some reflections, not enough to kill the deal but it would be better with a matte finish.

I first purchased a no-name brand lcd tv. I learned quickly that you get what you pay for. So I went with Panasonic[...]and the biggest manufacturer of plasma tvs. AND I AM SO HAPPY I DID. They are truly awesome. The TV itself - the picture is amazing. And I love the viera link option too. And now panasonic is making pioneer's plasma panels - what does that tell you? overall, you'll be happy with this purchase. No doubt about it.btw - I was comparing this w/ 2 tvs - the samsung 50 in TOC plasma and the panny 85U. this was definitely the best of the 3 for the money. the samsung is much darker and has terrible reflection. the 85U truly has the came contrast ratio vs the 80U.

This is our first flat panel TV, and it is terrific. We spent a lot of time comparing features and reading reviews, and we're very pleased with the result. The various setup menus are intuitive, and there is minimal reflection on the screen even though there is a window (with blinds) behind the seating area.

We were specifically looking for large plasma / LCD TV that would handle the bright indirect light from the windows in our family room. The Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U was absolutely the right choice. I'm convinced the anti reflective filter they use has been the difference. The screen glare is almost non-existent. Daytime viewing, specifically sports, is awesome. Movies, HDTV incredible!
I read many reviews, not knowing much about the technology. I kept coming back to Panasonic. We are very happy we did. I highly recommend them.

I researched for a while and decided on this TV for the following reasons:

-Unbeatable price for quality.
-The best black picture I have seen. It rivals my parents Pioneer which they bought for nearly 4 grand! This TV crushes my LCD with black picture quality.
-It's simple to get a good picture.
-Anti-reflection is awesome on this TV and even though the TV is in the living room with a lot of natural sunlight I have no problem watching during the afternoon. Panasonic has done a fantastic job with this on their new line.

Negatives:
-Really the only negative of this TV that people might find is that the picture adjustments are limited. This is fine for me because I think the picture is great with the presets they have and really would have no idea what to do if I had more ability to tweak the picture. If this is important to you go for the 800u.

Overall this is a fantastic TV and I would recommend it to anyone.
