Panasonic makes stunning plasmas, no question. This model has a number of new features, not all of which are flawless. First, unlike my older Panasonic 42" this one has a cooling fan which, when sound is muted, is clearly audible. The SD chip slide show has limited functions and the Viera cast is a bit clunky and it does not like wireless routers. Also, even when connected to the internet, the set does not properly display station ID and program information, at least when used directly with cable and no cable box. Oh yeah, with a wall mount you better get those cables right the first time because most of the hookups are in the middle of the back of the TV. Does all of this put me off? No way. All things considered, it is an amazing piece of equipment. This is my second flat screen Panasonic and I will only buy Panasonic TVs in the future. With blu-ray it is simply AMAZING. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Have also matched a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player DMP-BD60 with my TH-50PZ850U Plasma TV. It does a nice job of up-converting my old DVD's and looks fantastic on the TH-50PZ850U. The only thing I would have liked to have seen in all big screen TV design, is having the design such as to accommodate to allow placement of a center speaker (such as my Bose) just below the picture without blocking the remote pickup sensor. Unfortunately, few designer seem to consider this option. It was the same case with this set, I had to provide space for my center speaker on the bottom of my equipment cabinet. Still works O.K., but I would much rather have it closer to the TV picture itself.The TH-50PZ850U allows ample adjustments to meet ones personal taste. I found this useful for certain DVD movies. Many tend to be normally on the dark side. I also use only an antenna for HD off air broadcasting. Off air sports programs are the most likely to be broadcast in HD at this time. They look awesome on this set and you have the best seat in the house. One more point, is that some say bigger is always better. This set size is quite sufficient at 50". Truly, I believe it's good big theater sound that trumps picture size in making the total experience of DVD drama really come alive. Little is gained in gross picture size if that sound dimension isn't there.I would also be remiss if I didn't say that Abe's of Maine was a pleasure to deal with. [...]But because the set was in cold temperature during shipment, they recommended it sit for a day to reach room temperature before turning it on. I probably wouldn't have thought of that. Abe's also threw in a free HDMI cable along with the white glove choice.

I have owned this T.V. for about a month now and cannot say enough good things about it. Sharp image detail, natural colors, deep blacks... the picture just pops out of the screen. Even better than I had expected!

This is currently Panny's top of the line plasma TV. Viewing 1080 sources on this unit is like looking out of the window in terms of reality. This size is very good, but I wouldn't go larger until all sources are in 1080; I have a high quality receiver which upconverts other sources (DVD, Std. satellite, etc.) and they do look good on this unit. I would have gone with a 58" if all sources were 1080, but with the need for many things to be upconverted, this 50" unit is the perfect size. Its performance quality is amazing.

This is my second Panasonic Plasma and they do not disappoint. I cannot imagine a better picture other than the Pioneer Kuro which costs twice as much.

So, our first panasonic plasma was stolen in a break-in, we loved it so much that when reconsidering which plasma to replace it with, we kept coming back to the panasonic line.

We use a universal remote, so i can't say much about ease of use, but the picture is awesome. We don't wall mount (thankfully, otherwise, I'd be missing a chunk of wall as well). What sold us initially was the anti-glare screen as we have a lot of windows in the room. But what kept us coming back was the overall quality of picture.

Great plasma for the money. I use it for cable television and gaming. I don't really use the lan interface. No real need for it because I have my pc hooked through it as well.

AMAZING picture quality and Sound. Excellent color display and soft realistic tones. The VIERA CAST feature is really easy to navigate and useful.. Love to be able to see Photos from my SD CARD via the front SD CARD Slot. HALO 3 never looked better…I can go on and on, and on with positive feed back....This is my Second Panasonic Plasma Flat panel. I have owned & installed many other plasma TV's in the past. For the price, and quality this is as good, or even better then most priced double. Two of its features I am very fond of. The first is the network port. Once setup, it downloads any new updates for the TV. The second is the SD card port. If you own a AVCHD camcorder, camera, this is a great way to share those videos and pictures.

This is my first HDTV. It is a huge upgrade over my 15 year old 27" Philips TV. So saying the picture is amazing really isn't saying much; I think I would say the same thing about almost any high end HDTV I bought. The TV looks awesome even when shut off. I do have it in a room with lots of windows, but I see no problems with glare. When the TV is off during the day, I can see reflections on the screen. Once I turn the TV on, however, I can only see those reflections if I really stare hard beyond the actual picture. When I just focus on watching the picture on the TV, I don't see any reflections.

I also considered a Sony XBR LCD TV, but the pictures on LCDs always look "cartoonish" to me. They just don't pop out like they do on a Plasma. Panasonic and Pioneer always get excellent reviews from CNet and Consumer Reports so I knew those were the brands I would look at. The price to value upgrade for the Pioneer just wasn't there for me so I went with the Panasonic. I debated between the 800U and the 850U. Ultimately I went with the 850U mainly because of the internet connection. I only paid a couple of hundred dollars more for the 850U. I know the internet content on the TV is limited now, but I'm sure this content will really open up in the future. Plus it is nice to get firmware updates over the internet. It's the same reason why I plan on getting the Yamaha RXV-3900 instead of the 1900 when I buy a new receiver.

All in all this is a great TV and I love it.

I really love the youtube interface. It is really surprising how well the picture quality comes across. The only improvement would be an option to connect a keyboard.

Great plasma! The picture is absolutely perfect! The 850 model is worth a few extra $$$. I checked out plasma vs lcd for the last 6 months and found this Panasonic to be the best you can buy. Abes was by far the best price I could find anywhere!

After viewing as many different HDTV's as I could and reviewing the specifications, I chose the Panasonic. The outstanding picture brilliance and natural skin tones strike one at once. As the center of a home entertainment system the 50PZ850U can't be beat.

The image explodes from the screen. In addition, I connected a gaming console to this HDTV to obtain the most clear graphics I have ever seen in a game. The night scene in movies provide great clarity.

We mostly watch movies, either on DVD or via TV (we have ATT Uverse now). The picture on this tv is the most spectacular we have ever seen. The sound quality is superb. We added the panasonic blue ray home theatre system a few days after installation. wow! I'll be surprised if we ever go to the movie theatre again. We are working on setting up the Viera Cast which is why we chose this particular set b/c we want to play family pics from Picassa as our screen saver. As Panasonic adds more internet channels and sites it will be a blast. (remember this has viera cast not just viera link) ALSO we intend to hold business training sessions in our home; this will keep the sessions incredibly professional and easy to follow.
