Great picture even with the 480i that my cable company puts out. DVDs are super clear HD. Only one set of component jacks in the back of the TV so I have to hook the Wii to the front set of jacks when I use it.

This is the third Panasonic TV we have purchased. Since we have two houses we needed to upgrade the old TV's in both places. The first was a TH-50PZ700U, Than I purchased a TH58PZ700U.And the most recent was a TH-58PZ800U. They all work very good. However it seems whenever a new generation comes out the differences are very suttle, but the price increases dramaticaly.It takes about a year before the prices become reasonable, at which time they introduce a new model or at least a new model number. My suggestin from experience is not to buy the newest model but the generation preceding this.[...]

Everything was great and exactly what I was expecting except for the interface with my Panasonic Home Theater system. I had previously purchased the 50" version last year and had perfect interface.

This TV link will allow me to turn off the TV simultaneously with the Home Theater system. It will not, however, turn both units on simultaneously.

My only disappointment. The picture quality is excellent.

Great picture and easy to set up. I set up through my Marenz sound system and hookup was simple. HDTV cable picture is great and so is BluRay. I found custom color setup better than preset options.

The TV is great and lots of bells and whistles. To get the most out of it though really make sure your connections are good and the like. The TV is really heavy so make sure your wall can support it. My installer is having to put in some extra supports to keep the TV from tilting when the reticulating mount is pushed all the way back. Bit disappointed in the Non-HD viewing clarity for shows not broadcast in HD, but perhaps that's the situation with any HD TV.

Picture is absolutely stunning after you play with the controls a bit. THX mode ia bit dark and the colors are a little drab, however my understanding from all of the forums I've read say that's the way the movie was designed to be watched!? I changed to custom mode and after decreasing the brightness, contrast ('picture'), and sharpness the graininess in dark and bright scenes disappeared.

I have been doing my research for 4 months, this is the 2nd best TV if you can not afford the Pioneer Kuro prices. Talk about brilliant & vibrant colors, you will be amazed by the stunning picture & may eventually become a couch potato, literally.
I could never be happier with this purchase. For the geek out there, this TV offers numerous fine tuning options if you would like to do further calibration.

This THX certified TV is a superb addition to any home theater. The sound quality is the best I have ever heard from a TV, to the point that our family does not watch broadcast TV with our external sound system (only Blu-ray movies). The set up is reasonably easy and the vibrant picture is incredible. Abe's beat [...] by almost $1000 and [...] by $800!

When we purchase our next home, we will mount the set on the wall, but right now the display is sitting on a huge built-in cabinet in our family room. The room is well-lit during the day, but curtains and closed doors at certain times of day eliminate any significant glare issues. I have not had the set calibrated yet, but out of the box, the THX color preset is awesome! My kids sometimes switch it over to Vivid for cartoons, since the THX can look a little dark, but even they are starting to get used to the more accurate color.

This is my first foray into HD, so it is all new to me. I love all the input options. Previous sets required splitters to give all my devices the best possible resolution. My DirecTV HR22 plays great HD content, and SD isn't too disappointing, either. I have the receiver set up to autamtically play content is in its native format (kind of a purist), and it always looks fantastic on the display. The Samsung BDP-2500 plays stunning Blu-Ray and upconverted DVD content on the TV with stunning quality. The only device that doesn't play as well as I would like is the Wii. Using the component video cable is the best possible resolution available, but it just isn't that great. That isn't the TV's fault, though.

The sound quality makes me more content to watch without turning on my receiver for TV nad movies on the DVR. It has a surround-like quality, and it is full and rich. I never expected that level of sound quality from a TV set.

My only complaint is minor. The remote has a nice feel, but the 2 commands I use on it most commonly, changing input and changing color modes, are both impossible to do with the DirecTV remote. This just means I go back to having 4 remotes out on the table.

Overall, my 58 inch Panasonic was well worth the wait!

Picture quality is customizable in order to get that perfect balance of contrast, color saturation and brightness to suit individual tastes. Speakers give good spatial separation, but cannot handle much bottom end without distorting. Strongly suggest outputting sound to a separate surround-sound or stereo system.

Don't get caught in the LCD Plasma battle. I just don't get why somebody would want an LCD over a Plasma in a larger screen size. The picture is equally crisp on both sets; however, the plama has a much better dark levels. Does that matter, you bet is does. LCDs can almost come across cartoony becuase of the lack of depth (Remember the old movies where you could easily see the fake background). The black levels in the Plasma don't have that problem and it makes all the difference in presenting a better 3 dimensional image. Whichever TV you choose, it would be a mistake to not atleast put it up against this tv.

Awesome TV - the picture is pretty good out of the box but check AVS-forum for specific visual tweaks that absolutely give you an incredible picture specific to night settings or day settings (amount of ambient light in the room).

Tv is great. The THX setting has the best color but a bit too dark in my opinion. I put the brightness up just a bit on this setting which works for me.

We got the TV a couple of weeks ago. Been using it for PS3 games and blue ray movies. Cable company has not yet upgraded my connection. The picture is gorgeous. The family just watched Tropic Thunder in Blue-Ray and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its like going to a movie theater but at home. A good way to get the family together. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Even though this product boasts THX sound you will require separate speaker components to create a true movie going experience. One of the best plasma pictures I have seen. Definitly worth the cash.

We use this TV mostly for movies. I love that this TV can render blacks much better than our existing LCD's. Shopped around and have always found Abes to have nearly the best pricing [...].We don't use the TV sound system as we prefer and External Surround sound system. As usual with these TV's the built in sound is just average and ok for listening to the news but falls short for full movie enjoyment.

This TV is best value for money and it is top of the line TV -so it's a double win. In the store, the brighter LG LCDs look better in comparison, but in your home, you do not need the brightness. A slightly subdued plasma works the best at home. And this one is it.

Absolutely great Plasma TV. Easy set-up and very good picture pre-sets. Very heavy but probably normal for a 58' set. Some screen glare in bright rooms - otherwise superb picture.

We placed the screen on the wall in our family room. It fits the room perfectly and looks great. The picture is sharp, and will only get better after the breakin period and adjustment by a Panasonic service tech. Sporting events are awesome, as are movies. Im very pleased with the purchase, in every aspect.

This is my second Panasonic Plasma. The last one was a 50" I bought 5 years ago... While the old one was very good, Boy have they ever improved the picture, the ease of use, HDMI Interface.. I particularly like the way turning on an HDMI device automatically switches the input to the new device. It's swung out 90 degrees from the wall on a Chief PDR2059B Wall Mount..so we can watch it from bed....
BTW... Abes was great to do business with...
