This plasma replaced a 50" Panasonic which had served me well over the past 5 years. I fell in love with picture quality of the Pioneer after helping a friend buy one a year ago, and with Pioneer getting out of the plasma business, I couldn't pass up the chance to own one myself. As well as being a fantastic HDTV, I use it with my XBox360, PS3, and computer. Blu Ray is incredible on this set! I do wish, however, that the on-screen menu sytem were a bit more intuitive.

This tv's picture is outstanding. I did tons of research into flat screens, feeling plasma was the way to go even though the tv would be placed in a fairly bright room. The anti-glare screen rendered that potential disadvantage moot; daytime watching is still amazing. Once I confirmed plasma was the way to go, I had seen the pioneer lines against other sets and the black levels and contrast simply couldn't be beat IMHO. I decided on the Kuro instead of the Elite mainly because I couldn't justify the additional $1000 or so and the limitations in controls on the Kuro didn't bother me. I read in one of the online review sites that the Kuro would do the trick for most consumers, and that is 100% true for me. I have a friend who owns the top Panasonic and he helped me set my tv up; he couldn't help but stop every now and then and marvel at the picture - stunning...if you are considering this tv, agonize no more - buy it.

After extensive research, the picture quality in both HD and SD was even better than I originally thought. Great combination of Hookups for additional video and audio. Your Vizio friends will be drop dead jealous.

I have this TV mounted in my living room and it's just amazing. I love the picture, I love how it looks cosmetically, it just makes my living room look so much cleaner now. The only negative I could say is there is a main power switch on the back in the lower right hand corner. It doesn't reference this anywhere in the book, and I understand now it is pretty common on plasma TV's to have. This has to be clicked on before TV will be able to turn on. Scared me to death when I couldn't turn it on, but ever since then it's been nothing but a pleasure.

Great for home viewing of sports and entertainment. Deep blacks, excellent color hue, saturation, clarity and contrast. Quite satisfied with picture. I have home theater, but supplied sound is very good if you don't. 4 HDMI slots for easy, high-quality hookup, plus USB and Ethernet slots for PC-related uses, and well as plenty of conventional connections.

Does NOT have a cable card slot as some online descriptions say so be alert on this. That was the only disappointment on getting it as I was misinformed by ads. Don't know if it would be a useable option anyway. But this TV kicks the competition. It even has a decent sound amp and speaker bar, and a SUBWOOFER output! Offers much picture options so you can make one of them your personal setting by several adjustments. But does NOT offer the color options of the "Elite" model. Use the "Normal" setting to fine tune your own favorite options. Then you can shuffle between the others for variety. Hook it up to a Y****a sound bar and subwoofer and you won't need a complicated home theater set-up. One thing though, and this is not a defect, just a reality of all HD TV's. This TV has deep blacks that really bring out the negatives of poor reception. So if you have analog cable and have not opted for digital and HD programming packages don't expect clear pictures on the local channels. The regular analog channels will be grainy and somewhat fuzzy. The other channels like History, ESPN, TCM, and such are fine. You need at least "Digital" and ideally "HD digital" programming to really use this TV's potential. Excelsior!

This television has advanced my HD viewing pleasure tremendously. It's very user friendly and presents a picture beyond belief. I use it as an inegral part of my home theater system as well as for casual viewing. I recommend it to anyone wanting to begin or upgrade their HD setup.

Great picture and sound. Pioneer found that most people don't set up a surround sound, so they put a great sound bar with this one. Best plasma on the market. During set up, couldn't get it to power up. The master power switch is hidden under a small black box on the back of the set. A special notice (easy to miss) is packed with the set. Otherwise...TERRIFIC. Abe's was great to do business with.[...]. Highly recommended.

This is a great TV. Picture quality is outstanding. Sound is statisfying. Optimum setting is amazing: It automatically adjusts brightness, color and other settings. Wathed a couple of blu ray movies on the TV: Batman Begins and 007 Casino Royale. Sit 3 feet in front of the TV, and the picutre is really sharp. Night sceens pop.

The downside is the TV runs a little hot. I can feel the "heat" when I walk in front of the TV. It's no big deal in winter, but might be a concern in the summer.

I just replaced my 3 year old Panasonic 42" 720P plasma with the Kuro 5020FD. I have it hooked up to Dish with HD programming. The picture is stunning in HD. The black is very BLACK. The picture is good with non HD programming but not near what it is in HD. The menu is easy to follow. The sound is good. I was quite surprised with the anti-reflection, it is FAR BETTER than my previous plasma[...] Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

This is a fantastic TV. I am so glad I did not spend the extra money on the Elite version. I do not know how it could be better.

Because I am running a high end surround system as well, it does require that you read the manual in full. Kind of a drag.

This plasma sports the most vivid colors and darkest blacks I've ever seen on any tv, including friends, relatives, or local electronic stores, big names included. Easily worth what I paid for it. Regular definition programs via digital cable look almost HD so its processing power is amazing. And I hooked a ps3 to it and watched Iron Man in blu ray and was blown away but what I saw.

The only con I could possibly think of was during setup, had to read the manual to figure out how to turn it on, as this tv has a power switch on the bottom of it, and hitting "power" on the remote only puts the tv in standby, not off. So if you don't know to turn the power switch on at the bottom, you may think your tv came D.O.A.

After much research, I decided on the Pioneer Kuro 5020FD, even after seeing it side by side with the Panasonic 50". Both were excellent pictures, but the Pioneer was the clear winner.
