This HDTV is everything I thought it would be and more. While the TV is DLP and not suitable for hanging on the wall, it more than makes up for being thin by it sheer picture size. This TV is replacing a 60" SDTV and once you have experienced the 1080P resolution you can never go back.
The age of your older stereo components probably won't have the HDMI connectivity. To get surround sound, you may need to connect some older devices to your receiver via component audio and vidio. The good news is that my television service provider not only had HDMI video out, but optical out for surround sound. That makes my video and sound and good as it can get.
