Comments about CANON VIXIA HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:

The unusual use I found for this compact camera is to video student flights in my Cessna 140. I needed a small compact camera with at least two hours recording ability and wide screen. It needed manual controls to allow 30 fps to minimize propeller strobing, manual focus to keep it from trying to focus on the engine cowl. It meets these requirements utilizing the larger optional battery pack. I did need to manufacture a rubber mount and weighted platform to mount it on the upper dash area, this was to isolate it from the vibrations induced into the video when using a direct mount. The old Sony Hi8 camera I was using weighed enough it did not vibrate but the tape drive failed after long term use probably from the vibration, therefor the desire for a solid state camera. Even with the isolation mount and weighted platform it is about 1/2 the size of the old tape drive camera.
For other uses it meets all my needs and video is close to commercial Blue Ray Quality. Now I need to greatly improve my abilities shooting video.
Corel Video Studio works excellent editing this cameras video files. I also capture frames and print them out as 8X10's and it matches what I get from my Canon Rebel Digital. Do not even load the software supplied by Canon - it is useless..
This series of Canon Cameras was recommended to me by several sky-divers who swear by them.

Comments about CANON VIXIA HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:

Being able to take video and move it from SD card to PC/DVD/Blu-Ray at the speed of your file transfer system is a big plus in my opinion.
Recording to solid-state and having no moving parts except for the zoom mechanism is the feature that sold me on this type of camera - I can hike, bike or even jog without worrying about breaking a tape/DVD/HD mechanism.
Do wish it had a viewfinder for sunny day recording/viewing. Also wish the anti-shake were a bit more aggressive in smoothing out hand-held recording. Overall, a great little camcorder. Oh and the image quality is superb.

Comments about CANON VIXIA HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:

the size of the camera is so much better than the old clunky tape type video camera's. The HD quality is good however the where it can be improved on is the lense rather than the flash drive format. Flash is definetly the way to go for size and speed. Creating/rendering disc's with the current selection of software is very time consuming even with the duo core pc. Need cutting edge pc to reduce time. It took 4+ hours to render and burn a 45 minute DVD disc in HD.

Comments about CANON VIXIA HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:

This camcoder is very good. Took excellant video clips of my daughter's B'day party. I had a blast with this camcoder on vocation. I like the picture quality. However night recording requires lot of lights and of course this is a point and shoot camcoder. Best for home movies. I have to say battery life of this camcoder is poor.

Pros:
Excellant quality videos. Remember it is a point and shoot camcoder so don't compare with high end camcoders.

Cons:
Battery life is very poor. The night recording is very limited. Lot of picture noise. However I've heard it is far better than any other camcoders currently available in the market. Also you need to buy some quality video editing software. The one comes with this camcoder is useless.

Comments about CANON VIXIA HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:

The only addition I wish it came with is a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable to connect to a HDTV. The camera is a joy to use and the "Easy" button is a VERY spouse friendly feature!
