Researched Consumer Reports before buying this camera. Listed in their recommended buys and in my price range. Knew what to expect with low light performance. Bought an extended battery and charger from Abes. The camera will not communicate with the Premium Tech battery for battery level purposes but works fine. Knew what to expect and saved some cash. At least the charger will charge the Canon battery as some of the others will not.
Overall a very good camera, easy to use, good price, and I'm pleased with my purchase. Haven't had this camcorder that long so I'm still trying various encoders to convert AVCHD so I can edit and burn to standard DVD as an option.
So far Free HD Converter works pretty well.

-Camcorder over-all is good.
-It is not great in low light. Quality is okey.
-They would have given better software to convert videos to different formats.
-Video quality is really great. Ofcourse takes lot of memory!

I use this for ministry purposes. Great camcorder. You have to learn about converting HD video files. You need a good computer to do this.

The camera is very good and handy. However, it is hard and slow to edit the recordings and turn them to DVD (and I have Quad core computer)

So far I enjoy the HD recording. The quality was awesome so far. I had to play in the dark in order to minimize low light noise. I haven't play around with backup and convert to DVD. Hope this help for someone

Its a good camcorder oveall. Bit small to handle and needs some time to get used to. Video Software with the product sucks. Lot of features in the camera though. Lots of modes and settings to play around with if you want. Its fast to record cos of the SD card(I got mine free with the deal!)

This is for my home use, the little testing I did it worked well. fast response with Class 4 SD memory card. The low light performace left lot be desired, grainy picture under low light.

Got this camcorder for Christmas and got some mileage during the holidays. Great videos, but so so photos, so don't forget to bring your dedicated camera if you want good still photos. I was going to edit videos using another software, but no dice. Proprietary video editing software is clumsy and not on par with competition.

I got this primarily to use underwater and liked the low cost and very compact canon digital housing.The housing lacks a lot of the controls esp white balance and the menu.But the conveinence of the the size and the price makes this a good buy.

I love this camera. It works great and is pretty easy to use. I am not that tech. savvy and this is a cinch to figure out. Software that comes with it is awful but does not change my overall view of this camera.

The deals was great and for the price its the best camera available. Its really small and fits in palm. Controls can be difficult at times to use if you have large fingers! Lot of cool features which may not be used by casual users. LEARNING required on how to use all the available features. Overall a good product

I use this camcorder for personal/family use. It is a very compact and comfortable unit that has great picture quality. The colors and clarity are excellent. The remote is a nice touch and has come in very handy. The only drawbacks are the packaged software that I received with it, and the time to download the videos directly from the camcorder. There should be better software to save/convert the videos. A card reader is much faster to transfer the videos to the PC than the provided USB cable.

I am very impressed with the Hi-Def Canon HF-200. I had originally purchased the Standard Def Canon FS-200 from Abe's of Maine to save the money. I received it quickly and played around with it. The video quality was not as good as I anticipated, so I bit the bullet and spent the extra money for the HF-200. Abe's of Maine made it so easy to return and purchase the new camera. No hassles, no restocking charge, perfect.

I received the HF-200 and was immediately impressed with the size and style. Fits perfectly in your hand and small enough to take anywhere. The video quality was incredible compared to the standard def camera. The first video was of my daughter's gymnastics meet. It captured motion wonderfully even in the poor lighting of the gym. The colors were great and the picture was crisp. I used the included component video cable and hooked it up to my 65" 1080p HDTV and it was incredible! As if I was watching a High Def sporting event on ESPN. It also takes great quality still photos. I don't plan on taking my current still camera along with my video camera anymore. There's no need to.

After about an hour of reading some of the instructions and playing around with the controls, I was easily able to use the camera in all three modes. (digital camera, video, video/camera combo). If I can get this camera to work, anyone can.

The only bad thing about this camera setup is the poor video editing software. I tried using it and could not figure it out. Others have reviewed this camera and have the same things to say about the software. I took many people's advice and bought the Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum software and have been able to do some basic editing and conversion to file types that work with my computer.

Bottom line, I don't think you can get a better HD camera for the money than this one! Period.

This is a really nice camera. It fits easily in the hand and is pretty easy to use in terms of filming and shooting images; less so for playback and navigation type functions. Videos are amazing, but you may need to upgrade your computer in order to see HD vids. On my computer, HD vids are choppy during playback. HD vids playback fine on the camera and TV. Still shots are amazing! I have a 10mp camera that I no longer use because the shots on this camera are so nice. This camera is not cheap, but is definitely worth the money in my opinion.

I love that it has a HDMI port for direct viewing on a TV.

I used my video camera for the first time shooting video of my son's soccer game. My first impression was how light the camera was. I shot video for a little over an hour and my arm did not tire out! When i played the video on my TV I was stunned at the quality of the video. Beautiful. And the sound quality was very crisp.

First of all ,what surprised me most about this camcorder , is its outstanding image quality. Very easy to use even for the newcommer. It has a decent range of options for different types of scenes , a 15x optical zoom , and some neat options such as a 3 seconds pre-recording ,a mic input , a 24p and cine mode wich will give you a film look.The only drawback i could think of is how it performs in low light conditions , wich is not that bad actually after manually adjusting the settings .Considering this is a mid-range camcorder , i was very pleased with the results even comparing it with higher priced cams.With the right equipement and technique , this camcorder will no doubt give you professional results at a cheap price.[@]

The camera ia easy to use for both video or picture shooting. It is fast and has excellent video and picture quality. I had a lot of difficulty with the applications. Especially getting vidow off the camera. Converting to MPG was clumsy.

Great camcorder, but the Pixela SW bundle that comes with it is really bad. Expect to pay an additional [$]to get a good editing SW.
