It produces good quality movies with really good video compression ratio (9.5 min/GB), better than sony hdr sr-12 (7.5 min/GB). It has no HDD, so it works long on it's small battery. Good optics.

Quality of both video and still pictures is amazing! This new version does not seem to have any of the focus issues that plagued the older HD1000 model. Low light performance is also great. Could use an optical stabilization system but the digital one does work, you just have to move the camera slowly and work with it. Or get a tripod and turn it off.. I recently shot a wedding using a tripod and it turned out great. Also the video from this camera will play back easily on your computer as long as you have Quicktime or the K-Lite CODEC Pack installed. Oh, and lets not forget the great docking station. I have a 750GB external USB drive connected to the docking station, and with this I can sit on my couch with the remote and edit/cut/join video clips, copy pictures from the camera SD card to the hard drive, organize things by date, and do nice slideshows. My 750GB drive becomes the master library and I simply reuse the SD cards over and over. I can also plug the external USB drive into my computer directly and access all the video and pictures from it this way.. I even copied still pictures from my Canon camera to the hard drive, and then the Sanyo was able to play them back in a slideshow together with actual Sanyo pictures and video.
I should also mention battery life.. I took this camera on my recent Europe trip and captured over 40GB of video and pictures.. basically I was using it all the time. And I only had to charge the battery each night, it lasted all day without any issues!
In summary, this is a great little camera. Small, fits in your pocket, will replace your still camera for snapshots (not enough resolution for really pro photos, but if you don't need to zoom in on them they look great as is with lots of detail and colour), and will allow you to capture great video wherever you are! My bulky SLR sits at home now all the time, it is just too big to carry around. This thing is so small you can take it everywhere!

Love the product. Worth every penny. Only con is the lack of support on the Mac for the HD format the camera generates.

Excellent HD video and very good stills. Too early to comment on durability but feels solid. And the controls are the easiest to operate we've come across -- everything to hand, and just one hand at that.
