great camcorder, i bought it for my daughter's play and the picture was fantastic. it also comes with great software for basic editing functions and making dvds. a great camcorder for someone who just wants basic HD videos and doesnt need all the extra frills.
plus you cant beat the price!!!

I was unsure what to expect at this price point, but the camera has exceeded my expectations. I was comparing against a Canon Vixia that a friend has, but if that is out of your price range, this camera is a great choice.

I purchased this to mount on a Cookie helmet using the Cookie Cage. It fits perfectly, works well with the Hypeye Pro, and shoots amazing video. Lenses adapt easily, and can be purchased after-market inexpensively. I'd suggest the Hypeye Pro, as viewer must be open during use unless you are using the Hypeye.

I'd pick up a spare battery or two if you're going to use this often. Also, if mounting on a helmet, get the Cookie Cage. Otherwise, debriefing the video is more difficult in the box. Overall, a great, stable, unobtrusive camera.

I am truly happy with my purchase. HD recording really looks real GOOD! Sony made a good introduction product to HD recording. Has a CMOS sensor so it has Very good image quality. Only fallback was recording in low light compared to a well lit area,so don't expect to do a lot a night shooting. but that is why it it not the 700 recorder with the light built in.. The better the lighting the better picture quality. I think this is one of the best deals around $400. Lightweight & easy to use. If you already like it..just buy it!

Because of the CX100s small design it makes it idle for the extreme sport's man. This camera also has a low profile, which also means that you can stick it in bag without even knowing it's there.

There is always a flip-side to anything, and the same thing goes for the CX100's size. because it is so small (about the size of a soda can) some people may find it hard to hold or control the exact viewing area.

The Good: Very small package. High Def video is very nice. Convenience factor is head and shoulders better than my tape-based camcorder. No rewinding to start a new session or worry about recording over previous footage. Don't need the camera to get pictures/video onto the computer, unless you are using the internal memory. Minor Nit: Zoom control, like every camcorder I have ever owned, is located such that I accidentally push it when not filming. The Bad: Image stabilization seems almost non existent. Hopefully a good video editing app can help fix.
