Although this product records full 1920x1080 HD, ALWAYS make sure it is set to "HD FX" before recording, otherwise you will get the camera's standard 1440x1080 resolution. So far, this is the only flaw I have found even somewhat annoying about this camera.

I've never written a review before but felt i had to due to the struggles i had with selecting a camcorder. I bought this to video my son's wrestling matches and was scared of all the poor reviews i had seen about poor playback quality, videoing indoors, on all entry-level camcorders. i took the chance with this one and was dumb-founded by the picture quality that was in front of me. It's fantastic. Ease of use: i bought a mini hdmi cable and hooked it from the camcorder to my lcd samsung tv with no compatability issues, whatsoever. It was almost laughable considering i spent approx. 4 weeks researching what to buy.i am not a professional videographer or a techy, but needed a camcorder that videoed my sons activities indoors and was easy to use. i came away with just that.[...] I definitely scored a win, on this one.

I love the automatic turning on when the lcd screen is opened. Many options to use on the camera, probably more than I need. Great quality video for home videos. Very durable with the flash memory. The only bad thing would be that the glossy finish is easily smudged, but that's just a cosmetic thing. Overall a good camera for the price. I haven't found any major issues with it. The included software could be a little better.

Initial use was on a 3 week trip to Croatia. The camera was easy to use out of the box but got a little more complicated when setting up for special situations. A party in low light looked ok on lcd but is hardly viewable on replay. Wide angel wasn't as wide as our simple digital camera. I got left out of a group shot that everybody elses camera got. Zoom was great tho. Don't use hd record if you are not going to create bluray or use directly with your hd tv. I got almost 3 hrs of hd video on internal 16 gig. Standard was pretty good on the removeable flash mem.

It's been awhile since I've upgraded camcorders. I've owned a Hi-8 Sony for 12 years and loved it. I just wanted a digital Hi def recorder because I need to store the videos on a computer. So the picture quality and the ease of storage/watching urged me to upgrade to this camcorder. Totally happy with the purchase and the price was right. Only accessory upgrade will be a longer life battery although the included one will probably serve all my needs.

We recently took our new CX150 to Yellowstone on a long car trip. The camcorder provided very solid performance.

We used it in standard definition mode just to save memory, but the quality of video was still solid. The image stabilizer works well, though at the very longest zoom you can't really hold it steady just by hand. In some situations there is a lack of saturation to the images.

All in all, this is a very good camcorder right out of the box. Easy to use, good value, good quality of video.

I use this camera for personal/recreational use. Being able to output HD to a normal DVD (not Blu-ray) and still be able to play the movies as HD using my Sony Blu-ray disk player was/is very important to me. Adding a Blu-ray burner to my PC and needing to use Blu-ray disks for movie storage/backup is very expensive. The picture quality of my test movies has been exceptional and the camcorder is very easy to use for a novice like me.
