I have shot literally hundreds of videos and short films with my HVR-V1U cameras. I own 2, and have had no problems with either camera. My uses are mostly live music performances or music videos. Some may label a camcorder at this low price "prosumer" instead of "professional". Believe me, despite the price, you are getting a professional piece of equipment. I've worked with $10K+ camcorders, and the images produced with my Sony HVR-V1U are just as good ... make that, great!
My only complaint is that the wheel used to select menu items is too sensitive; while turning the wheel with my thumb, I sometimes press it and accidentally which selects an unintentional menu item. However, turning the wheel with the nail of my index finger greatly reduces such errors. This is just a minor inconvenience. I still love the camera! Thank you, Sony.
