I noticed a big difference in sound when using the Rode VideMic. I have used it with both the Canon VIXIA HF200 and the Canon VIXIA HFS100 and with both camcorders it made a big difference. The sound was clearer and the background noise it minimal.

Significant improvements in sound quality from on-board digicam mics. It does a better job of picking up less background noise. Sound is clear and has more dynamic range. My only complaint is that it doesn't draw power from the hotshoe, meaning you have to remember to switch the battery power on and off. It's easy to forget this and record silence by accident.
